Spotify Acquires Live Audio Platform Locker Room

Spotify is one of the forerunners of the streaming market and it seems they're intent on diversifying and expanding with a recent purchase of audio app 'Locker Room'. Writing on their blog, Spotify say they intend to "evolve and expand Locker Room into an enhanced live audio experience for a wider range of creators and fans," with a selection of content including "a range of sports, music, and cultural programming, as well as a host of interactive features that enable creators to connect with audiences in real time."

It appears their goal is beyond music too: "Spotify's U.S. podcast listenership will surpass Apple Podcasts for the first time this year when 28.2 million U.S. users will listen to podcasts on Spotify at least monthly, compared with 28.0 million via Apple Podcasts," Live streaming may be on the horizon but we're holding out for a live jamming system!
