There are electric guitars and acoustic guitars and Taylor have introduced a new guitar which they say is a little bit of both and a lot more besides. The T5 is a new thinline guitar with a custom 5-way switch for selecting five pure analog Taylor tones. The sound is created by three pickups - a rear pickup that can be seen through the top, a pickup in the neck joint and a body sensor under the top. Tones are selected from an easy-access 5-way switch and there are controls for volume, resonance and detail plus a standard quarter-inch jack output. Power comes from a 9v battery (with LED indicator) that is good for about 40 hours of performance. We'll leave the last word to Taylor Special Project Manager, David Hosler, " The concept for the T5 was to create a Taylor guitar to play onstage all night, so a player could do acoustic songs and then kick into high gear and rock without having to stop and switch guitars. We've put the T5 in the hands of such artists as John Petrucci of Dream Theater and Phil Sneed from Story of the Year. Everyone's first words are, 'I want one!' " The T5 will ship in late spring 2005 Features:-
  • Sapele body, Trpical American Mahogany neck
  • Shortened scale length 24-7/8 inches
  • Spruce top
  • f-holes
  • Cherry, Honey or Tobacco burst finishes
  • Chrome tuners and micro dot fingerboard inlays (T5 Standard)
  • Gold tuners and Artist inlays (T5 Custom) More info:
