Toadworks had two new pedals on show at Winter NAMM - The John Bull overdrive and Redux delay. We doubt whether we could be poetic as the Toadworks chaps themselves in our description of what we saw so we'll leave it up to them to tell us in their own words.... John Bull is a new guitar effect pedal that emulates the classic overdrive that put Great Britain on the rock & roll map. From the 60's to the 00's, England has produced some of the finest amplifiers on the planet. This is the sound that propelled rock & roll to the global force it is today, and now it's under your thumb, ready to conquer the world all over again. John Bull has been tested and used with a wide range of amplifiers, including tube, solid state and hybrid. If classic British overdrive is your cup of tea, John Bull's gonna squeeze your lemon so hard it will hurt. Whatever your preferred flavor of british amp, John Bull will get you within shouting distance. Low gain, high gain, fat mids or scooped, John Bull does it all and then some. Every combination of guitar and amp will have a slightly different eq, output, etc., and the sound will always vary to some degree, so expect the unexpected. Whether you are looking for Top of the Pops jangle, high-voltage crunch or creamy Woman Tone, John Bull lays the g-spot right at your fingertips. Like a pint in your favorite pub, sometimes it's smooth, and sometime it's not, but it's always tasty. Redux is a new guitar effect pedal takes the concept of delay in a whole new direction - two directions, actually. Redux is an asynchronous delay, providing a combination of single, phased and multi-tap delays all in one very small package. Redux has been tested and used with a wide range of amplifiers, including tube, solid state and hybrid, and the results are always the same. If regular old delay is leaving your tone flat, Redux will make it fly. Once... At it's heart, Redux is a single stream digital delay effect. Delay time, Decay, and effect Level are are adjustable via the big shiny knobs. We've designed Redux for a fixed rate of signal degredation, to better enulate an analog delay, but unlike analog delays, Redux offers more than 500 ms of delay, and nearly infinite repeats. Twice... Along side the primary delay path is a second, parallel delay path. Identical in every way, this second delay path can be switched on and off. But what's the point, you ask? This secondary delay signal can be time-offset either forward or backward, up to 100 ms! Go from slight phase shift to ping-pong delay effect with one quick turn of a knob. Three times, a Delay... (sorry, we couldn't help it) As with all ToadWorks pedals Redux is wired for true-bypass, but even when its on, it won't suck your tone! The clean (unaffected) path is crystal clear, with perfect unity gain. What goes in is exactly what comes out; If you want color, get some Crayons.
