NAMM 2023: PSP - Lexicon PSP 42

US PSPs classic delay emulation gets redesigned, resized and new processing modes      14/04/23

At NAMM 2023, Sonic State caught up with Matthew from PSP to discuss the second-generation Lexicon PSP-42 plugin. The first version was created two decades ago, and the new one is more compatible with modern systems, offering many upgrades, including a resizable GUI with a new preset system, which allows for easier management of presets. Additionally, it features new processing modes, including the Clean mode, which is entirely transparent, and the Lims version, which implements two optolimiters and an AD emulation to provide a unique and distinctive sound.

The Full mode is the most advanced, including the emulation of converters and voltage drift, which gives the sound a less static and less digital quality than other digital delays. The plugin also has a bypass that maintains the mix ratio and includes the limiter of the input. Additionally, the VCO section has been upgraded to feature a sine and square modulator with an envelope follower that can now be inverted. The sound can be played in standard forward recording and playback mode, backward recording and playback mode, or bounce mode. The plugin also offers various new presets designed by developers, including the original creator of the PCM-42, Gary Hall.

The new Lexicon PSP-42 is available now, and there is a great offer for old customers with a promotional price of $99. For more information and to purchase the plugin, check out the PSP website.

Price: 149 USD.

Promotion Price: 99 USD until May 1st 2023
