Elixir Strings announced a whole new way to buy electric bass strings at the NAMM show. With its Custom String Shop for electric bass strings, players now have the freedom to customize five and six string sets and are no longer forced to buy preset string gauges. Players can now gauge unique or traditional string sets based on their specific gauge requirements.
By liberating its four string foundation sets from the fifth and sixth strings, Elixir Strings Custom String Shop now makes building a custom five or six string bass set easier than ever. All players need to do is select a four string foundation set and add unique single packaged custom low B and high C gauges or use color coded traditional gauges.
Craig Theorin, Product Manager, Elixir Strings told us, “Elixir Strings Custom String Shop is all about customization for bass players, so they can pick the gauges that they want. Through player feedback we heard that there was a real longing for a greater selection of gauges. Many players can be particularly discerning when it comes to their Low B strings. The Custom String Shop allows players to tune in the optimal low B. Now, bass players will no longer be stuck playing someone else’s idea of string gauges.�

Elixir Strings Custom String Shop for electric bass strings will offer four string foundation sets and single-packaged Low B and High C strings in Super Light, Light, Medium and Heavy gauges. MSRP for four string sets is $39.99, Low B fifth strings are $9.99 and High C sixth strings sets are $6.99.
